Shinjuku Department wtore

This massive building is a department store in Shinjuku.
There are many huge department stores in this are. some owned by the train lines. You don't find malls so much in Japan as they don't have the space, Instead you'll find modern versions of what you used to see in Australia - the department store that stocks pretty well everything.
And there are upmarket stores, more middle range and lower price ones as well.
The areas of Shinjuku are pretty well defined by the train station exit. For example, the South Shinjuku area is accessed by the South Shinjuku train exit West Shinjuku, the west station exit and so on.
This may seem strange at first, but when you consider that Shinjuku station is the largest railway station in Tokyo with over 3.4 million people going through the station each day, I think this might help put it into context.
Yes, mind boggling!
