Feeling small in a BIG city.

The thought occurred to me, that even though I had been walking around dor a few days in Tokyo, that apart from walking around tourist sites, that I hadn't been actually for a wander of the streets. In fact, everyday I had walked the 1 km distance to a subway station (Shimbashi) from my hotel almost totally underground sometimes four times a day.
So I thought an evening stroll was in order and so I found the street exit and went wandering.
It was about 1830 on a Saturday evening, and while it was very pedestrian friendly, you only saw an occasional person in this area. I felt dwarfed by the size of the huge buildings. I had always expected Tokyo to be very squashy but there are plenty of huge open spaces. Sometimes in animé films you get this sense of being so small compared to society, and I think that's the sort of feeling that you get.
I noticed lots of bicycles parked around the place too with plenty of spots provided for them.
I love how everything is high tech everything is, including the witches' hats on the roads which are lit up. Which, in fact, is very sensible as their paths for the cars are highly visible.
