This is Angus Downing, a member of the Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club playing a set of tunes he brought back from the Shetland Islands.
Gus, as we call him, was the first recipient of the Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club Travelling Fiddlership, set up by Bill Sides, the Melbourne grandson of the Shetland fiddler, John Anderson, who emigrated to Australia in the 1920s. Bill Sides is a man of unbelievable generosity, who is sponsoring an exchange between the Shetland Islands and Melbourne, to help us keep the wonderful Shetland music alive.
You can see the story of the fellowship in the YouTube film 'Da Road to the Shetlands' at:

Gus is very modest, and might be embarrassed by me saying this, but when he plays this set, he is totally engaging, which means that audiences listen to every single note that he plays of these wonderful Shetland tunes - which is really the whole point of the Fellowship.
He's an incredible ambassador for the Fiddle club, and we're very proud of him.
